Hey guys,

Didn't have the time to scour everything so... Fresh site and install.

Joomla 1.5.26, MM Current Version 1.5.8.4 Your Version 1.5.8.4.

Everything checks out, previews, players, System check says OK etc.

Just had my first purchase and the customer says that the download links show up as: "File does not exist."

He sent me the download links and I confirmed the situation. The link to me to the correct page for the downloads, showing Albums etc. Clicked on the green dl button, list of tracks show up, click on a track to download... another new window pops open saying file does not exist.

As I said, everything checks out in the site as far as paths etc. As a matter of fact the "Preview and Tracks" folder are the same and are previewing fine.

HELP!!!!!

Also there seems to be a missing correlation between the albums and tracks as the Purchase pages says Albums=3, Tracks=0 (the purchase was for 3 separate albums and all are showing on the dl page). In the admin section everything seems fine under album and track managers.

I wonder if this also has something to do with the "backup" manager not creating or backing up all tables?

Please help guys... already starting off with a bad rep here on my site.

Thanks you mu7ch,

Mr. B

here are some things to check:

- try with a different browser
- make sure the server has enough memory - if the server runs out of memory it might throw that error; how big are the files
- make sure the permission on the files are 644
- see if there is an error log in your root or in the Maian Media folders
- try enabling the firefox web console and see if there is any errors there

can you PM the link to the download page and i will take a look...

Sent a pm with extra info but thought I would post the rest just in case it can help someone else.

Hi Marc

Now as my hosting is with Godaddy I am allowed unlimited domains with my account. They are NOT sub-domains eg domain.xxx.xxx. But the Godaddy system automatically forwards to a "sub-folder" of my choosing to host the domains.

Therefore, my url to the mp3 folders begin with "../mp3_tracks". The preview url does not require the ".." for some reason and as I have the same folder for the previews it is "/mp3_tracks". With these settings and the individual track paths (including multi album sub folders "xx/xxx/mp3_file") seem to check out with the "Tools" thing and on the front end for playing the previews.

This puzzles me and may be the issue...
"MP3 files should always be stored outside of the web root. This is the relative path from the music root folder to the MP3 folder. Name it manually and make sure it exists. NO trailing slash."

The outside of the "root" thing is whats the ? If everything I have setup is working until downloads... should I move the folders to outside the joomla installation?

Thanks,

Mr. B

the usual way with most hosts is that you have access to the folder above the web root; that is very useful for many things, like storing files that are fetched by a script, but cannot be accessed any other way.

I had a client who was using GoDaddy and i didn't really like the fact that you couldn't go above the web root; i like to keep backups and other files in folders.

the path to the MP3 files has to be the actual server path. So if your username was foobar, then your user path would look something like this:

/home/foobar/my_download_files

and the path to your audio previews would be like this (assuming you put them inside a folder called 'mp3_previews' in the images/stories/ folder of joomla):

/home/foobar/public_html/images/stories/mp3_previews

For hosting, I recommend Site5.

Thanks Marc

No variation works other than "../mp3_tracks" etc. With the exception of allowing downloads. Don't forget the previews are pointing to the same folder, so they are being accessed.

/home/content/x/x/x/xxxxxxx/html/xxx/mp3_tracks Does not work or survives system tools check.

Please take notice in the window that pops up on the download page that although it shows the album it says "tracks=0". Could that be an issue? Am I missing a table column or something?

Is it possible something in the download screen is looking for something else? If I click on .zip, blank page, if I click on a file, does not exist.

I am not a genius, but... I'm tryin nots to gets dummer. ;)

Good news... and bad news.

Ok well I should have thought of it before...

When I allow a free download from the front end.... BAM! Downloads immediately. GOOD NEWS!

So since that means it's pointing to everything right, the problem lies in the "Receipt and Download retrieval link email thingy..." which of course I know nothing about.. kind of. BAD NEWS!

So since this little epiphany, any thoughts on the brains side of the equation?

Patently looking at the hair upon my desk of which was on my head earlier today. ;)

Thanks guys,

Mr. B
